Happy opening NFL weekend, Pennant Chasers! Hope your fantasy teams are off to a better start than mine. In my most competitive fantasy football league, I ended up with Ja’Marr Chase in the second round, and while that might pay off down the road, I appear to be in line for a painful week one. I nabbed Travis Kelce with my fourth pick, and he produced an “awesome” six points for me on Thursday, so I’m already behind the eight ball. I have to say, playing against Lamar Jackson is annoying as heck - all those stupid 9-yard runs add up! I happen to have Anthony Richardson, so I hope he delivers some payback with his legs. By the time you read this email, we should know what kind of week Chase and my other WR Malik Nabers had, and whether I’ll be crying in my beer tonight!

ANYWAY… the real reason I am sending this email to the 100+ super-users who signed up for the newsletter is to announce an exciting new feature: Anyone can now create a new Auto League if that league type doesn’t already exist via a new link at the top of the Join Auto League pages…

No more waiting around for me to kick off a new Favorite Teams Budget Draft league or a new Negro Leagues or Japan Greats player pool!

With the addition of this new feature, I am now heavily leaning toward creating Quick Draft leagues for the other sports (basketball and football). Many of you probably know, Quick Drafts are not my favorite because they are hard to keep fair. The first users to draft tend to get the better teams even though the system tries to keep it fair.

But, the other sports are trailing badly in popularity, and I do think Quick Draft options could inspire more users to play those leagues. The Quick Drafts in baseball tend to be far more popular than the Daily Draft.

I’ll have to give some thought on how to do it in a fair way for the other sports, and there’s also the issue of defense for football, and whether it would still be a team-defense league. Basketball is also challenging to turn into a Quick Draft because with only 5 starters, it’s important to maintain balance.

At any rate, I hope you’re all having a great weekend, and feel free to send me any thoughts or questions on the above!
